Bobby White & Kate Hedin teach Lindy Hop (slow, medium, fast, & "hand-to-hand combat"), Balboa, Collegiate Shag, dips, tricks, aerials & more. They also teach such classic swing jazz dances as the Big Apple, Dean Collin's Shim Sham, Sausages, Jitterbug Stroll, Tranky Doo, & other vernacular jazz routines.

In their classes they stress comfort, musicality, play-time, appearance, and the avid use of deodorant when going out dancing. For lesson information, see the classes page.

Check it out: Northeast Balboa Corridor

"The Northeast Balboa Corridor is our name for the combined Balboa scenes of Washington–Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York City. By themselves, each is relatively small with only one or two Balboa dances per month and a few classes. But together—each city is within two hours of the next in a string along route 95—there is a Balboa dance almost every week and a range of regular classes and workshops taught by some of the top instructors in the world!

From their beginnings these scenes have been highly supportive of one–another. The goal of the Northeast Balboa Corridor project is simply to promote that relationship by giving it a name, providing a central resource for information on events and coordinating car–pools along the corridor (see 'Recent News' below), and hopefully expanding the range of dancers who consider themselves part of this wider community and willing to travel and support events in the neighboring cities."

Balboa on the Potomac

Big news! Bobby and Kate are now the European Balboa Champions! ... Last weekend, in Toulouse France, while teaching at the Frenchie Balboa Festival, Bobby and Kate took the Euro Bal Cup.

Summer's over. It's back to school time. ... Our breif break in classes over the summer has come to a close. And now they're back with a vengence! Glen Echo classes start up in September with "Balboa Fundimentals" and "Flash & Crash." Followed by "Old Timer's Delight" (bal) and the "Tranky Doo" in October, and then "All-You-Can-Eat Balboa" and a "Performance Choreography" in November.

Also, we'll be teaching a Beginner Balboa Series at the Jam Cellar starting in September.

And finally, David & Kate's classes at CCB, both "Balboa I" and "Dean's Technique for Lindy I", will start back up August 20th.
